Days are gone when we had to book calls and then go back later to receive, when we had to crank a gramophone to listen to music, when we had to stand in class and shout our voice hoarse in order to teach. This, all has changed in the last 40 years. Technology, enhanced by advancements in computer use , has changed the way we do things. Now its mobile and satellite phones, multimedia music and movies on mobile devices, computer and projector teaching in classes etc.
The emergence and subsequent use of the computers for education has revolutionized everything in the classroom. Soon, pupils may not have to sit long hours listening to boring 'speeches' from teachers. Computer-assisted education has taken the African continent by storm. The computer remains one of the most exciting gadgets in the African classroom. Teachers who take to this method of education will find themselves delivering better ideas in a very simple way because computer, unlike the traditional methods of teaching, is highly interactive and makes the use of multimedia learning aids very simple.
Back here in my country. computer-assisted education is spearheaded by ITCT Africa. The organization is committed to reaching out to all schools and making sure that teachers are trained well in computer-assisted education.
I thank ITCT Africa for the opportunity accorded to me for this training.

It has been a great honor to have such a priceless IT training, we teachers have been left behind because we have not had such a privilege to such skills and, there was no way we could pass it on our trainees without having the knowledge and skills first. In some developed countries you find instructors or lectures using projectors to teach both theory and practical sessions most especially in computers studies and all engineering courses.
you also find well prepared notes or handouts before reaching class. that is why teachers in Africa need to have sessions of this type that the teaching method changes and they also need to be taught the 4 sets.
i really thank ITCT- Africa for having given us this golden opportunity to express the skills we have obtained so far to our institutions. thank you so much.
This online session has really done a great wonder to training. i think its great to have such lessons.

The ages of struggling with sticks and chalks has come to an end. For long in Africa teacher have been finding it difficult controlling their classes, however now with computer technology its realized that by use of computers pupils/students are kept busy with work and do not have time to become unruly in class. If any thing the lessons in class have become more interesting and enjoyable than how it has been on chalkboard. It is also possible that even those who had lost interest into attending the classes are now very much motivated to be at school daily. Indeed some wish not to go back home early.
With technology and efforts made by ITCT Africa organization it will enable teachers to have wide range for search for knowledge and also the learners will be involved other than taking teachers materials alone.
It helps the teacher to choose the best material relevant to his/he class and also compare notes with the material found on the net libraries and other areas.
Linux is really an empowering soft ware and am happy to have got such a golden opportunity . As a tutor in PES it has really helped me to build the capacity of teaching educational technology in PTC a really thank all the initiators of this programme may God bless you all.
